Arthroscopic Olecranon Bursectomy

Patrick Joyner, MD, Jeffrey Simpson, BS, Thomas Knapp, BS

Free Streaming Video

Arthroscopic Olecranon Bursectomy is used to treat recalcitrant olecranon bursitis. It consists of two portals inferior and superior to the bursa being used for visualization and debridement of the diseased bursa. The authors believe it is relevant because, in their experience, it has been associated with decreased risk of bursitis reoccurrence, wound failure, or infection when compared to traditional open bursectomies and may represent a viable alternative for treating olecranon bursitis after conservative treatment has failed.
