Dr. Basamania received his medical degree from The George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences in Washington, D.C. He completed his residency at Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma, Washington in Orthopaedic Surgery.

His career includes positions as Chief, Department of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation Womack Army Medical Center and Orthopaedic Consultant & Staff Surgeon Joint Special Operations Command and Security Operations Training Facility, Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Dr. Basamania also served as the Assistant Professor of Surgery Division of Orthopaedic Surgery, Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, as Chief, Orthopaedic Surgery Service, Durham Veteran’s Affairs Medical Center, Durham, North Carolina, and as Chief, Adult Reconstructive Shoulder Surgery at Duke University Medical Center.

Dr. Basamania specializes in all types of shoulder surgery, especially in shoulder replacement, and has developed a minimally invasive technique for repairing broken or improperly healed collarbones (clavicle).
