Medial meniscal allograft transplantation techniques have expanded from the bone-plug techniques originally conducted within the medial compartment to bony trough techniques that maintain the rigid distance between the anterior and posterior horns. Doctor Frank R. Noyes, Medical Director of the Cincinnati Sports Medicine Center and Medical Director and President of the Cincinnati Sports Medicine and Orthopedic Research and Education foundation has been giving increased attention to approaching younger patients that have undergone menisectomy, before early stages of articular cartilage degeneration set in. In this JBJS/VJO video supplement to his article, Dr. Noyes demonstrates his technique using a central trough as well as provides surgical video and narration of the two tunnel technique.
