Recent advances in the understanding of the anatomy and function of the acetabular labrum suggest that it is important for normal joint function. Ganz and his colleagues have energized and revolutionized hip joint-preserving surgery by developing the innovative and dramatic, yet safe, surgical dislocation approach to correct impingement.
